How do i change my password?

Option 1- Through Outlook Portal

  • Use the link https://myaccount.microsoft.com/ to sign-in into your account, using your existing password,
  • Select Password from the left navigation pane or select Change password from the Password block.

  • Type your old password, and then create and confirm your new password.

  • Select Submit. Your password will be changed and you'll be asked to sign in to your account again
  • You will be prompted with successful password change message.
  • If you can't change your password using this option, contact MISD helpdesk by:
    • Walk-ins at: Julius Africa CDC Building, 6th Floor MIS office.

Option 2- Through Cisco AnyConnect

Before changing your password, kindly insure that you have a working internet connection and the MFA (Microsoft Multifactor Authenticator) application installed on your mobile device, then:

  • Connect to AU network through AnyConnect Application icon on your device screen
  • Press “Ctrl + Alt + Delete”
  • Click on “Change a Password
  • Type current/old password
  • Type new password and confirm
  • Press Enter or Click on the side arrow to complete password change process.
  • You will be prompted with successful password change message.
  • If you can't change your password using this option, contact MISD helpdesk by:

IMPORTANT NOTES ON PASSWORD CHANGE

  • If you also connect to your account from a phone or a tablet, you also need to update the password in the settings on that device to match your new password. Similarly, you also need to update the password in the settings of any other desktop email application you might be using (for example, Apple Mail or Mozilla Thunderbird).
  • To help make your password more secure, consider the following password construction guidelines: -


a)Passwords must contain at least 8 characters.

b)Passwords must contain at least 1 uppercase letters (e.g. N) and 2 lowercase letters (e.g. ta).

c)Passwords must contain at least 1 numerical character (e.g. 5).

d)Password must contain punctuation or other non-alphanumeric characters. (!, &, @, *)

e)Passwords must not be based on a users’ logon I.D., name, phone number, or any permutations thereof.

f)Passwords should not be based on well-known or easily accessible personal information.
